Self-protection and self-defence - an outline
As part of our commitment to preventing bullying and violence, our trainers have been offering independent courses at schools in the region for many years. These courses are tailored to each class, are age-appropriate and offer flexible topics. We consult with teachers and/or school social workers in advance to identify the needs of the class and thus design courses that are specifically geared towards the challenges faced in the classroom.

A programme can focus on self-defence, violence prevention or bullying prevention as core topics, with each topic helping to boost the self-confidence of children and young people. It is also possible to combine the core topics. In the area of self-defence, the focus is not only, but especially in the case of children, on reality. That is why, in addition to the actual self-defence techniques, we also act out situations and scenarios that children may encounter in everyday life (e.g. being approached on the way to school, on the bus or train, abuse prevention, ‘My body belongs to me’). In bullying and violence prevention, children and young people learn in a protected environment how they can actively confront both and not become perpetrators themselves.
All courses share the same age-centred educational approach to the material, with the ultimate goal of empowering children and young people and raising their awareness of possible situations in everyday life – whether these involve bullying, exclusion, assault or direct physical violence.
